Mazak introduces Integrex-i-400AM hybrid machining machine

Founded in 1919, Mazak is a global leader in the machine tool industry. The company produces advanced machine tools such as multitasking centers, CNC turning centers, machining centers, laser processing equipment, and automation systems.

The INTEGREXI-400AM is equipped with multiple Ambit laser cladding heads that can be switched from high speed cutting to fine metal deposition by changing the tool head. INTEGREXi-400AM is suitable for processing very difficult materials in small batches, which are commonly used in the aerospace, energy and medical industries.

In operation, INTEGREXI-400AM sprays metal powder on the surface of the workpiece at the tip end of the nozzle, and simultaneously irradiates the fiber laser to melt and solidify the metal powder on each base material. This method also strongly bonds the base metal with other metals. For example, on the "Inconel 738" as a base material, a nickel-based superalloy "Inconel 718" for aerospace components is subjected to deposition molding. It can therefore be used to repair worn or damaged parts such as aerospace turbine blades.

In terms of machining, the INTEGREXI-400AM offers a complete 5-axis function for easy handling of solid billets or castings, round parts, high profiled parts and prismatic parts, as well as parts that have been additively manufactured.

INTEGREX i-400AM provides customers with an innovative production method that is different from traditional parts design and processing. This technology is especially suitable for processing small batches and difficult-to-machine materials, such as heat-resistant alloy parts in the aerospace industry, high-hardness materials tools and parts in the energy field, and high-precision special alloy parts in the medical equipment field. Customers can easily add “near net shape” product components to the parts by means of additive manufacturing, and then quickly complete the finishing tasks by milling, and laser marking if necessary.

INTEGREX i-400AM uses metal powder laser sintering additive manufacturing technology. First, the fiber laser heat source melts the metal powder, and then the melting head (that is, the additive manufacturing nozzle) sprays the molten metal powder layer by layer according to the design requirements, and gradually condenses into The shape you need. The system can also incorporate different types of metals to repair existing worn or damaged parts, especially like repairing aerospace turbine blades, which can result in significant cost savings.

Mazak offers two types of cladding heads: high speed or high precision. The cladding head mounted on the spindle can be automatically replaced and placed in the magazine. The user can use different cladding heads depending on the shape, processing conditions, and type of metal powder material.

The INTEGREX i-400AM is capable of a comprehensive five-axis turning and milling process with a B-axis swing of between -30/+210° for easy handling of polygonal forgings or castings, revolving parts and complex shaped parts, as well as those After the additive manufacturing and processing of the parts, the full C-axis indexing and programmable tailstock are configured by the turning spindle.
