In our impression, the robot's actions are always awkward, but scientists have begun to work hard to change this. Recently, engineers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) developed a biped robot with both machine power and human flexibility called HERMES.
HERMES is a bit like Iron Man, except that the controller is not inside, but is controlled outside. After wearing the exoskeleton full of cables and motors, the controller's every move is mimicked by HERMES, which can be much more powerful.
According to reports, this robot has a "unique balanced feedback interface" that allows it to perform "moment-driven tasks" such as breaking through walls or swinging bats while maintaining their balance. Since HERMES is only 90% of the average person, it can also play a role in disaster relief operations or other dangerous situations.
HERMES will participate in the Robot Challenge Finals organized by the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, and the MIT Mechanical Engineering Department is very certain that the robot it developed will be the closest to humans. Although it now requires human control to be active, researchers may change this in the future.
