Overview of China's magnesium resources (dolomite, magnesite) and market prospects!

In the natural world, magnesium has the resources of dolomite, magnesite, salt lake, seawater and other resources in the chemical state, ranking the eighth in the surface of the earth's crust.

China's magnesium reserves rank first in the world, and it has been explored that about 4 billion tons of marble resources, about 3.145 billion tons of magnesite, and about 3 billion tons of serpentine mines. The reserves of terrestrial magnesium account for 67% of the total global land reserves. .

The reserves of magnesium salt in 33 salt lakes in the Qaidam Basin of Qinghai are about 4.75 billion tons, and the storage form is high-purity magnesium chloride which is very favorable for mining.

Magnesium is the lightest metal in practical metals, with a specific gravity of 1.738, 1/4 of iron and 2/3 of aluminum. It is excellent in strength, vibration damping, machinability, electromagnetic shielding and reusability. Metal, from the perspective of resources, the application of magnesium, especially in place of aluminum and steel, will be the general trend.

With the improvement of environmental awareness, the production cost of magnesium alloys has been continuously reduced, and the magnesium alloy die-casting and forming technology has been continuously improved. The world's automotive and electronic and electrical products use magnesium alloys to make products lighter, thinner and reused. The wishes are fulfilled.

Magnesium alloy is the first choice for automotive lightweight materials

Whether considering social or economic benefits, low-fuel consumption and low-emission vehicles are the needs of a conservation-oriented society. The way to solve this problem is to develop new energy vehicles such as electric vehicles; the second is to make cars lightweight.

So far, there are more than 60 parts in foreign cars using magnesium alloy, including steering wheel skeleton, steering column bracket, instrument panel skeleton, seat frame, valve cover, gearbox housing, intake manifold, etc. The magnesium alloy of the component has the highest usage rate.

Compared with foreign countries, the history of magnesium alloy application in China is relatively short. The consumption of magnesium alloy in automobiles has not yet gone up. The application technology is still relatively backward overall, but the market space is huge!

The global magnesium resource market is hugely used

At present, the annual global magnesium consumption is only 800,000 tons, and the global annual consumption of similar metal aluminum is more than 50 million tons. Magnesium has great development space as a substitute metal for aluminum.

90% of the world's original magnesium and magnesium alloys are produced in China. According to industry experts, there will be an explosive growth in global magnesium use in the next 5-10 years. By 2020, the global magnesium consumption will exceed 2 million to 3 million. Tons, especially rail transit and automotive lightweighting, offer tremendous opportunities for the accelerated development of the magnesium industry.
