Common types of plasterboard

There are many varieties of gypsum board. There are four types of gypsum board commonly found in the market:

Plain plasterboard

The ivory white core and gray paper are the most economical and common varieties. Applicable to places of use without special requirements, the continuous relative humidity of the place of use does not exceed 65%. Because of the price, many people like to use 9.5mm thick plain gypsum board for ceiling or partition wall, but because 9.5mm ordinary gypsum board is thinner and less strong, it is easy to deform under humid conditions. It is recommended to use gypsum board of 12mm or more. At the same time, the use of thicker sheets is also an effective means of preventing joint cracking.

Water resistant paper plasterboard

The core and the facing paper are waterproofed. According to the requirements of the national standard, the paper surface and core of the water-resistant paper gypsum board must meet certain waterproof requirements (the surface water absorption is not more than 160 grams, and the water absorption rate is not more than 10). %). Water-resistant paper gypsum board is suitable for use in places where continuous relative humidity does not exceed 95%, such as toilets and bathrooms.

Refractory plasterboard

A refractory material and a large amount of glass fiber are added to the core, and if the gypsum board is cut, a lot of glass fibers can be seen from the section. Good quality fire-resistant gypsum board will use non-alkali glass fiber with good fire resistance. General products use medium or high alkali glass.

Moisture-proof plasterboard

It has high surface moisture resistance, surface water absorption is less than 160g/m2, and moisture-proof gypsum board is used for room ceiling, partition wall and veneer wall with large environmental tidal.
