Statistics show that in the first quarter of 2012, China's synthetic rubber production reached 961,000 tons, an increase of 9.9% year-on-year; apparent consumption reached 1.26 million tons, an increase of 4.7% year-on-year. In March, domestic production of 328,000 tons of synthetic rubber, an increase of 4.82%.
The data also shows that in the first quarter, China imported 362,000 tons of synthetic rubber, a year-on-year drop of 7%; its export volume was 64,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 3.3%. The external dependence of domestic synthetic rubber reached 23.7%, a decrease of 3.56% compared with the same period of last year.
Judging from the output of all provinces and cities, in the first quarter, the output of synthetic rubber in Jiangsu Province reached 259 million tons, an increase of 15.09% year-on-year, accounting for 26.95% of the country's total output. Followed by Shandong Province, Guangdong Province and Hunan Province, which accounted for 17.7%, 8.31% and 7.64% of the total output respectively.
