In the previous two evaluation articles, we gained a comprehensive understanding of the Zhongwang CAD Touch interface, local file management, network disk management, fonts, and drawing views. However, the most essential feature of any CAD software is its drawing editing capabilities, which directly impact the user experience. In this article, we will dive into the practical drawing editing functions of Zhongwang CAD Touch to see how it performs in real-world scenarios.
Zhongwang CAD Touch offers a bottom toolbar with several common drawing, commenting, and editing commands. The first tool is the "Create Object" function. When you tap the first brush icon, a Drawing tool submenu appears, allowing users to draw various objects such as circles, polylines, lines, rectangles, arcs, and text. It also supports linear, radius, and angular dimensions, area calculations, and distance measurements. These commands are similar to those on a desktop version, but with a few differences. For instance, the command prompt appears at the top of the screen, and when entering values for certain commands (like lines or polylines), the system automatically shows the current drawing size. To modify it, simply tap the input box, enter the desired value, and then press "Finish" to complete the action.
Tapping the third icon brings up the "Marker Tool" submenu, where users can create rectangles, clouds, text, and freehand lines. While the rectangle and text commands are similar to the Drawing tool, they are grouped together for convenience. The "Cloud Line" command allows you to draw cloud-like shapes by following your finger’s movement on the screen, while the "Free Line" command lets you draw with a brush-like gesture.
Next is the "Edit Object" function. Tap any object in the drawing to select it — a white dashed box will appear around it. An Edit tool submenu will then pop up, offering options like move, copy, rotate, scale, delete, deselect, mirror, and align. If the selected object is text, you can also edit it, whether it's single-line or multi-line text.
For selecting multiple objects, simply tap each one in succession. A dashed envelope box will enclose all selected items. You can also perform a frame selection by briefly pressing and holding an empty area of the drawing, then dragging your finger. Dragging from left to right selects only entities fully within the window (blue background), while dragging from right to left selects any entity that intersects with the box (green background). This method closely mirrors the selection process in the desktop version of Zhongwang CAD+.
The "Object Capture" feature is another useful tool. Zhongwang CAD Touch supports capturing midpoints, endpoints, and centers of lines. When drawing, hold your finger on the screen, and a yellow dotted line will appear around your finger. Release it to capture the point. If you hold longer, a magnifying glass appears above your finger, zooming in on the area, with a golden crosshair showing the exact touch point. As you move your finger closer to a feature point, the crosshair turns into a capture frame, allowing you to precisely select the point by releasing your finger.
In the latest version, Zhongwang CAD Touch 1.2, polar axis tracking has been added. This feature helps in drawing perfectly horizontal or vertical lines. For example, if you're drawing a line close to a horizontal or vertical direction, the software automatically snaps it to that direction, improving accuracy and efficiency.
To summarize, Zhongwang CAD Touch and Zhongwang CAD+ are based on different platforms but both support DWG files. Zhongwang CAD Touch is designed for mobile use, offering streamlined tools for viewing, annotating, and basic editing. Its built-in cloud service enables seamless file sharing between PC and mobile devices. However, due to mobile hardware limitations, it typically handles files up to about 10MB. On the other hand, Zhongwang CAD+ is a full-featured desktop application, ideal for large-scale projects in design industries. It supports much larger files, up to 100–200MB. The newly released Zhongwang CAD+ 2014 is better integrated with Zhongwang CAD Touch, enhancing file transfer and collaboration between devices, creating a more unified experience across PCs and mobiles.
