Evaluation of Zhongwang CAD Touch Technology: Powerful and Practical CAD Design

In the previous two evaluation articles, we gained a comprehensive understanding of the interface of Zhongwang CAD Touch, along with its local file management, network disk management, font settings, and drawing views. However, the most essential feature of any CAD software is its drawing editing capabilities, which directly impact user experience. In this article, we will explore the practical drawing editing functions of Zhongwang CAD Touch to see how it performs in real-world scenarios. Zhongwang CAD Touch offers a bottom toolbar with several common drawing, commenting, and editing commands. The first one is the "Create Object" function. When you tap the brush icon, a submenu appears, allowing you to draw various shapes like circles, polylines, lines, rectangles, arcs, and text. It also supports linear, radius, and angular dimensions, as well as area and distance measurements. These tools operate similarly to their desktop counterparts, but the command prompt is located at the top of the screen. When inputting values for certain commands—like drawing a line or polyline—the system automatically shows the current drawing size. To modify it, simply tap the "input box," enter the exact value, and then click "finish." Next, there's the "Marker Tool." Tapping the third icon opens a submenu where you can create rectangles, cloud lines, text, and freehand strokes. The rectangle and text commands are similar to those in the Drawing tool, but they're grouped together for convenience. The cloud line command allows you to draw by tracing your finger on the screen, while the freehand stroke works like a brush tool, letting you draw freely with your finger. For editing objects, simply tap on any object in the drawing to select it. A dashed box will appear around the selected item. Then, the Edit tool menu pops up, offering options like move, copy, rotate, scale, delete, deselect, mirror, and align. If the selected object is text, you can also edit it, whether it's single-line or multi-line text. To select multiple objects, tap them one after another. A dashed envelope box will appear around all selected items. You can also perform a frame selection by briefly pressing and holding a blank area in the drawing, then dragging your finger. Dragging from left to right selects only the entities fully inside the box (blue background), while dragging from right to left selects any entity that touches the box (green background). This method mirrors the selection process in the desktop version of CAD+. The "Object Capture" feature is also available. When drawing, press and hold a point on the screen, and a yellow dotted line will appear around your finger. Releasing it captures the relevant point. If you hold longer, a magnifying glass appears above your finger, zooming in on the area, with a golden crosshair showing the precise touch point. As you move your finger closer to feature points, the crosshair changes into a capture frame, allowing you to snap to the desired point. In the new version 1.2, Zhongwang CAD Touch has introduced polar axis tracking, which helps in drawing horizontal or vertical lines. For example, if you draw a line close to a horizontal or vertical direction, it will be automatically aligned to that direction. In summary, Zhongwang CAD Touch and Zhongwang CAD+ are based on different platforms but both support DWG files. Zhongwang CAD Touch is designed for mobile use, offering streamlined features for viewing, annotating, and simple editing. Its built-in cloud service enables seamless file sharing between PC and mobile devices. However, due to mobile hardware limitations, it typically supports files up to about 10MB. On the other hand, Zhongwang CAD+ is a full-featured desktop application, ideal for large-scale design work, such as pattern creation and detailed drawing editing. It supports larger files, up to 100–200MB. The newly released Zhongwang CAD+ 2014 is better integrated with Zhongwang CAD Touch, enhancing file transfer and sharing between devices, creating a more unified experience across PC and mobile platforms.
