Method for measuring the particle size of activated carbon

This standard specifies the instruments, measurement procedures and treatment results for the determination of moisture in coal-based granular activated carbon.

This standard is applicable to the determination of moisture content of coal granular activated carbon, and also to the determination of moisture of coal powdered activated carbon.

This standard is not suitable for the moisture determination of heat-sensitive, non-aqueous adsorbent coal-based granular activated carbon.

2, method summary

The sample of a certain quality is dried, and the moisture content is volatilized, and the mass of the lost water represents the mass fraction of the mass of the original sample.

3, instruments, devices

3.1 Balance: The sensitivity is 0.0001g.

3.2 Electric constant temperature drying oven: 0~300 °C.

3.3 Dryer: Contains anhydrous calcium chloride or discolored silica gel.

3.4 Weighing bottle with lid: The grinding mouth is short.

4, sample and its preparation

The sample was taken out by a quarter method for the sample to be sent.

5, the measurement steps

5.1 According to the size of the particle size, use a pre-baked and constant weight weighing bottle with a lid, weigh the sample 1~5g (accurate to 0.0002g), and make the sample thickness uniform.

5.2 Open the lid of the weighing bottle containing the sample and place it in a thermostated oven at a temperature of (150 ± 5) °C for 2 h.

5.3 Take out the weighing bottle, cover it, put it into the desiccator, and cool it to room temperature and weigh it (accurate to 0.0002g).

5.4 After each drying for 30 minutes, weigh it again until the mass change is not more than 0.0010g, which is regarded as dry quality. If the quality is increased, the previous quality of the increment should be taken as the standard.

5.5 Repeat steps 5.1 through 5.4 and make another sample.

6. Processing of measurement results

6.1 The moisture content is calculated according to formula (1):

Where: W—water quality fraction, %;

M1—the mass of the original sample plus the weighing bottle, g;

M2—the mass of the dry sample plus the weighing bottle, g;

M—the mass of the weighing bottle, g.

6.2 The two styles are measured once, and the allowable difference is as follows:

When the moisture content is not more than 5.0%, the allowable difference is 0.2%;

When the moisture content fraction is more than 5.0%, the allowable difference is 0.3%.

The results are expressed as an arithmetic mean, accurate to the thousands of digits.

7, test report

The test report should include the following:

Sample delivery unit, sample name, sample batch number, sample date, test result, test unit, tester's name, reviewer's name, issuer's name, and report date.
