New Standards for Eliminating Wooden Doors Not Satisfied Have Been Promulgated

China's wooden door industry needs a standard and standardized production to avoid the waste of raw materials caused by different specifications, and it can also reduce the difficulty of maintenance.

In recent years, thanks to the acceleration of real estate development and urbanization, China's wooden door products have grown at an annual rate of 25%. This has also led to a mixed culture of the wooden door industry. In order to make the wooden door industry healthy and sustainable development, the "wood doors and windows" national standards will soon be introduced. It is understood that the forthcoming implementation of the "Wood Door and Window" standard is the first national standard for the professional division of the wooden door industry in China. The issuance of this standard is expected to standardize the industry standardization of the wooden door, and put forward higher requirements for production and sales.

Zhu Qingyi, a light industry researcher at China Investment Advisors Co., Ltd., said that at present, the problem of the entire wooden door industry is more prominent. For example, the weak brand effect of products, lack of product design features, incomplete after-sales services, unregulated business management, and the large-scale competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises and large enterprises will hinder the further development of the industry.

Shi Feng, secretary-general of the China Forest Product Industry Association, also introduced that the demand for wooden door products has grown rapidly, and consumers' demand for product quality, variety, and structure has constantly changed and improved. However, following the industry's entry barriers, chaotic market order, lagging standardization, uneven product quality, and disorderly competition among companies have seriously affected the development of the industry.

"Wooden doors and windows" standard is the first national standard for the professional division of the wooden door industry in China. It was drafted in 2004, but it has not yet been introduced for various reasons. However, Qu Yingliang, chief engineer and wooden door specialist of the original Beijing Construction Timber Factory, who participated in the review and drafting of the National Standard for Wood Doors and Windows, said that the standards for “Wood Doors and Windows” have passed the review and are subject to approval only. This year will surely be issued. This standard will raise the threshold of the industry and is targeted and professional. The standardization of wooden door regulations puts forward higher requirements in many aspects. These include core issues such as new materials, quality performance, emerging processes, and wooden door functionality.

Then, will the national standard introduce Taiwan and can it cure the confusion in the wooden door industry?

Zhu Qinglu believes that the release of the new standard will most likely result in the dismantling of some small businesses and the shrinking of the entire industry. In the short term, there will be no significant impact on the specifications of the wooden doors, because the popular wooden door specifications in the market are varied. It takes a long time for the new standards to take effect. At present, the new standard has higher requirements for the production of wooden doors and raw materials, so some small businesses may be eliminated due to their inability to meet standards. At the same time, there are many shortcomings in the industry, not product standardization can be solved, so the progress of the industry also requires companies to consider on their own, do not over-reliance on new standards.
