The difference between micro-sparing and secondary burning

Since 2010, microcrystalline stone has gradually emerged in the market. Today, it has become one of the protagonists in the architectural ceramics market. The material of microcrystalline stone is natural, crystal clear and transparent, and has the texture of natural stone. It is very popular among consumers. The traditional microcrystalline stone is generally fired twice, and has the disadvantages of poor hardness and easy to be dirty. With the advancement of process technology, many ceramic enterprises have launched a single-fired microcrystalline stone product in recent years. So what is the difference between a single-fired and a second-fired microcrystalline stone?

Burning microcrystalline stone at one time is more energy efficient. The secondary fired microcrystalline stone is firstly burned by the high temperature of the green body, and then the glass ceramics block is placed on the glass to be calcined again by high temperature. The firing time is about 70-110 minutes, the glaze burning time is about 120-150 minutes, and the total duration is more than 3 hours. The once-fired microcrystalline stone is formed by firing a brick, a pattern, and a glass-ceramic layer at a high temperature. The firing time is about 120 minutes, and the total firing time is much shorter than the secondary firing, which is more energy efficient.

One-time burning of microcrystalline stone is more resistant to dirt and abrasion. The secondary sintered microcrystalline stone body has a poor degree of bonding with the crystallites, and the wear resistance is low, the Mohs hardness is 4-5, and the general polished brick has a Mohs hardness of 6-7. The degree of hardness of the once-fired microcrystalline stone brick and the microcrystalline layer is higher (the Mohs hardness reaches 6) and the wear resistance is better. In addition, the temperature of the single-fired microcrystalline glaze is higher than that of the secondary fired microcrystalline stone, and the firing temperature is increased to make it more stable. The product can withstand rapid cooling and heat, no late cracking, and more resistant to dirt and abrasion.

Secondary firing of microcrystalline stone is still the mainstream. The firing time of the once-fired microcrystalline stone is short, the green body is not subjected to the firing, and a large amount of gas is discharged at different stages of the firing process of the green body. If the firing process is not performed properly, more or larger bubbles will form in the glaze layer, which will absorb the dirt after polishing. The secondary sintered body is fired, and the water absorption rate of the green body is close to zero, so that no gas is discharged from the green body during the glaze burning process, and the number of pores on the surface of the product can be greatly reduced. In terms of transparency and permeability of the decorative effect, the effect of secondary firing of the microcrystalline stone is also better.
