The Dutch study using urine and waste water to generate electricity

Urinary urination is necessary for the body's normal metabolism and it is unavoidable. Although these urine are just unusable waste in the eyes of most people, it seems to Dutch researchers that people can get about 300 milliliters of urine after each urination, which can make a light bulb shine for 2 hours.

Professor Patel, a researcher at the Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, told reporters recently that the principle of using urine to generate electricity is actually very simple. It is to collect energy from the urine by using ammonia as a biofuel. “The goal of our efforts is to use biofuels to achieve high-efficiency power generation,” he said. “Using the equipment we have now developed, we can get ammonia from urine or wastewater, and then try to achieve high-efficiency electrochemical reactions to get energy.”

Heinkop said that "through large-scale wastewater treatment facilities, wastewater containing high concentrations of ammonia can be concentrated and extracted, together with nitrogen and phosphorus, can be used by fuel cells." At present, the entire scientific research project is already in the practical application stage. We expect to recoup R&D investment in about 5 years." (Reporter Pan Zhi)
