2. If someone offers you cigarettes, drinks, or invites you to dinner while you're away from home, politely decline. This could be an attempt to drug you, leading to robbery or exploitation. Stay aware of your surroundings and avoid suspicious interactions.

3. Business owners should be especially careful about counterfeit currency. Always check the authenticity of bills before accepting them, especially in high-volume transactions.

4. Avoid buying items that claim to be “winning” cans or other cheaply priced goods with “winning” logos. These are often part of scams meant to lure people into paying for fake prizes. Never rush into purchases without verifying their legitimacy.

5. Be wary of individuals who offer to exchange foreign currency, gold, ancient relics, or rare herbs for RMB under false pretenses. These could be attempts to steal your money or belongings. Always verify the identity and intentions of such people before engaging with them.

2. Preventing Street Theft

1. Avoid taking shortcuts through dark or isolated areas. Stick to well-lit, busy streets whenever possible to reduce the risk of being targeted.
