1. Be cautious when someone pretends to be a monk, nun, priest, or someone named Mr. Xiangming and asks for money due to a so-called disaster. These are often scams designed to trick you out of your money. Always stay alert and verify the situation before giving anything.

2. If someone approaches you while you're away from home, offers you cigarettes, drinks, or invites you to dinner, politely decline. This could be an attempt to drug you and rob you later. Stay vigilant and avoid accepting anything from strangers.

3. Self-employed individuals should be especially careful about counterfeit money. Always check the authenticity of bills before accepting them as payment.

4. If you come across someone selling “winning” cans or items with a “lucky” logo at a very low price, or if many people are rushing to buy something, it's likely a scam. Don’t fall for it—avoid purchasing such items to prevent being cheated.

5. Be wary of people who claim they have foreign currency, gold, ancient relics, or rare medicinal herbs and want to exchange them for RMB due to a “disaster” or other excuses. They may also say they lost their wallet and want to split the find with you. Always think twice and avoid falling into these traps.

2. Preventing Street Theft

1. Avoid taking shortcuts through dark alleys. Choose well-lit, busy streets whenever possible.

2. Keep your wallet in an inner pocket. Never put it in your back pocket or shopping cart, as these are common targets for thieves.

3. Avoid showing off expensive jewelry or accessories in public.
