The root cause of this challenge lies in the immature state of China's energy storage industry. There are multiple technical approaches, no unified standards, and high costs that hinder widespread adoption. During the Zhongguancun Industry Alliance Energy Storage Salon, experts called for a clear commercial model to determine who should pay for energy storage. Unlike countries like Japan and the U.S., which have supportive policies for energy storage, China lacks a similar framework.
In response to these challenges, Chinese authorities are actively exploring policy pathways to support the energy storage industry. The National Energy Administration is working on a roadmap for both technology and policy development.
