The floor market is still on the rise, with solid wood flooring prices continuing to climb. Some major brands have already increased their prices by around 5% during the National Day holiday period. Industry insiders suggest that the price of solid wood flooring will keep rising in line with the increase in international log prices, with some reports indicating a potential rise of up to 10%.
A sales representative at a home experience store shared that the company received a price adjustment notice ahead of the holiday season. "Starting from October 1st, there was a 5% price hike, but only for certain products," they said. The staff explained that the rising cost of international logs has directly impacted domestic flooring prices.
According to a spokesperson from a leading flooring brand, the surge in international log prices has significantly affected the cost of producing solid wood flooring. They noted that the overall increase in log prices this year ranges between 5% and 10%. For example, the price of African mahogany has jumped from 2,600 yuan to 3,500 yuan per cubic meter due to resource shortages and rising oil costs.
Looking at global data, most wood products are currently priced at high levels. In the third quarter, the average price of hardwood increased by $1.51 per cubic meter, reaching $104.88, which marks a 5.8% year-on-year increase.
Another flooring brand official stated that the continuous rise in international log prices since the second half of last year has led to a tight domestic market, which is likely the main driver behind the recent price increases in solid wood flooring. Prices have gone up by approximately 5% to 10%, signaling a new trend in the industry.
