Strengthen source control to protect employees' occupational health

At the Henan Oilfield Refined Wax Factory Quality Management Inspection Center, laboratory technician Li Jingmin shared with excitement on April 2: “The fume hood is installed above the light oil analysis equipment. During the oil heating process, the oil and gas can be directly captured by the hood. Some heavy oil analysis and solvent operations are also conducted inside the fume hood. Our working environment has been continuously improving.” In recent years, to better protect employees' occupational health, the refined wax plants have intensified control over occupational health risks. They strictly implement the "three simultaneous" system for occupational health in construction projects, ensuring that occupational disease hazards are addressed at the source. The factory regularly organizes activities during the Occupational Health Promotion Week. Through banners, training sessions, knowledge contests, symposiums, on-site consultations, bulletin boards, and hazard identification, employees gain a better understanding of the "Occupational Disease Prevention Law" and the dangers associated with chemicals. These efforts aim to enhance overall safety awareness, prevention capabilities, self-protection awareness, and environmental responsibility among all staff. To ensure comprehensive health monitoring, the factory conducts regular occupational health check-ups for over 1,000 employees exposed to occupational hazards. It continuously updates four key files related to occupational health monitoring and hygiene, maintaining a “one person, one file” system for each employee. Employees also sign the “Safety Risk and Occupational Disease Hazard Contract,” and their job risks and occupational hazards are clearly communicated in writing. Additionally, the factory actively carries out occupational health status surveys and hazard rectification work. Since the second half of last year, it has continuously improved the notification and warning signs for occupational hazards in workplaces. According to industry standards, the quality inspection center laboratory now has 26 fume hoods, 3 explosion-proof fume hoods, and 25 additional hoods. In each installation area, eyewash facilities have been installed, and 28 showering stations have been re-installed. Furthermore, 70 protective masks have been added to grassroots workshops, significantly enhancing occupational health management at the production site.
