Introduction: Metal processing online reporters attended the annual meeting of China's steam turbine industry for two consecutive years in 2011 and 2012. The company uses step drills and indexable tools for hole machining, but composite drills are not commonly used. Due to the large number of older machines, when using Sandvik Coromant’s 880 ladder drill, they implement a stepping process. When high-speed cutting stops, retraction (small) helps achieve good chip breaking and cooling effects. In terms of boring operations, Iscar’s sickle-shaped tools are often used. However, when casting parts with tight tolerances, the cutting process can be interrupted during boring, which reduces efficiency. To address this, the company now uses milling methods. With a small main cutting edge angle, the cutting force is directed axially, leading to stable cutting and improved efficiency. Regarding high-speed steel tools, most are domestically produced, such as reamers used for blade root pin holes. In recent years, through collaboration with Hengfeng Tools Co., Ltd., they successfully developed a conical reamer that replaced imported tools. Previously, they relied heavily on imported taps, but now, after working with Sichuan Tianhu Tools Co., Ltd., domestic taps account for over 60% of usage. Additionally, by opening spiral grooves on worn reamers, the performance remains comparable to new ones, achieving high precision and cost-effectiveness.
