Coal stockpiles at the four major ports around the Bohai Sea have seen a slight decline this week. Compared to last week, Qinhuangdao and Jingtang Ports saw reductions in their coal reserves, whereas both Caofeidian and Tianjin experienced increases. In addition to inventory changes, the number of vessels waiting to be loaded at the Bohai Rim anchorages has risen significantly. As of December 16, there were 61 ships anchored at Qinhuangdao, 34 at Jingtang, 28 at Tianjin, and 24 at Caofeidian. The increase in vessel traffic indicates growing activity, possibly driven by seasonal demand or planned shipments.
Meanwhile, downstream power plants continue to hold high coal stock levels, which has led to an increase in the number of days that coal can support operations. This surplus has contributed to continued downward pressure on steam coal prices at the four Bohai Sea ports.
