On August 23, the final results of the 2013 Land and Resources Science and Technology Awards were officially released. A total of 70 projects received first and second prizes, with six of them focusing on oil, gas, and chemical mineral resources. These awards highlight significant contributions to the advancement of resource exploration and management in China.
Among the top honors, the project titled "National Oil and Gas Resource Strategic Constituency Survey and Evaluation (2004–2009)" was awarded the first prize. This initiative was led by several key institutions, including the Ministry of Land and Resources' Oil and Gas Resource Strategy Research Center, the China Geological Survey, China National Petroleum Corporation, Sinopec, CNOOC, CNPC United Gas, and Jilin University. The project represents a major milestone in understanding and evaluating the country's strategic energy reserves.
In addition to the first prize, five other projects secured second-class awards. These include "National Oil and Gas Resources Dynamic Evaluation (2010)," "Qinghai Plateau Oil and Gas Resource Strategic Constituency Survey and Evaluation," "China Gas Hydrate Exploration and Development Medium- to Long-Term Planning Research," "Theories and Application Practices of Complex Oil Reservoirs for Marine Carbonate Rocks," and "Study on the Model and Causes of Carbonate Rock Hole System." Each of these projects contributes valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities in the energy sector.
According to the "Guide to the Awards for Science and Technology of Land and Resources," all non-confidential projects that pass the final evaluation will be publicly announced for a period of 20 days. The public announcement is scheduled to end on September 11, allowing time for feedback and transparency in the recognition process.
These awards not only celebrate scientific excellence but also emphasize the importance of continued innovation and research in land and resource management. As China continues to expand its energy strategies, such projects play a crucial role in shaping the future of national resource planning and sustainable development.
