Do not wear a safety helmet, not a worker, and the Wuhan two migrant workers are injured when pushing the wall.

Recently, a tragic incident occurred during the demolition of an old house on Minglun Street in Wuchang. As workers were tearing down a wall, it suddenly collapsed and rebounded, injuring two migrant laborers. The accident has raised concerns about safety practices during construction and demolition work. Witnesses, including Mr. Wang, described the scene. At around 4 p.m., four workers were removing the wall when a loud noise was heard, followed by the sudden collapse of the structure. Two of them were hit by falling debris, while the other two quickly rushed to help. They managed to clear some bricks and pull the injured out, but the victims were badly hurt, with visible blood and difficulty speaking. Emergency services arrived soon after, and the injured were taken to the hospital for treatment. The building, which dates back to the 1950s, is considered structurally unstable. According to local residents, the workers did not wear protective helmets or use any barriers to prevent accidents. Some even climbed onto the roof to remove tiles, while others used hammers to break down the walls. Dust filled the air, making the environment unsafe. Many locals warned the workers to be cautious, but their advice went unheeded. One of the injured workers, surnamed Wang, suffered a broken right lower leg, while the other sustained minor injuries. According to reports, the four workers stood on the same side of the wall while pushing it. Due to miscalculations about its thickness and stability, the wall wasn’t knocked down immediately. However, repeated pushes loosened its base. When they finally pushed it one last time, the entire structure unexpectedly rebounded and fell directly toward them. Master Wang and another worker tried to escape but were struck by bricks. Medical professionals confirmed that both injured individuals are currently stable, though they require further observation in the hospital. This incident highlights the urgent need for better safety measures and proper training for workers involved in demolition projects. (China Labor Insurance Network)
