Corn enters the stage of pests and diseases

In recent days, 22 forecasting technicians from the main corn-producing provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities, along with industry experts, have released their predictions regarding the development of pests and diseases in the mid to late stages of this year's corn crops. They anticipate a more severe situation compared to previous years, with a higher occurrence rate than usual. While insect infestations are expected to be worse than last year, disease outbreaks are likely to be less severe. From late July to the end of August, various pests and diseases are expected to reach their peak. In the mid to late growth stages of maize, the primary threats include stalk borer, leaf-feeding insects, sap-sucking pests, and leaf diseases. Among these, the third generation of armyworms poses a high risk of recurrence. Corn borers, as well as large and small spot diseases, are particularly widespread and damaging. Other pests such as cotton bollworms, leafhoppers, aphids, double-spotted leaf beetles, and diseases like brown spot, Curvularia leaf spot, head smut, and stem rot are also causing significant damage across different regions. The national forecast estimates that by late summer, approximately 9.2 million mu will be affected by pests, 6.2 million mu by diseases, and 3.0 million mu by other plant health issues. In specific areas, the first generation of corn borers has already been reported in Heilongjiang, reaching epidemic levels in central and western regions. The second generation of corn borers is active in Liaoning, Hubei, Hunan, and Chongqing. The third generation of armyworms is heavily impacting the northeast and northern China. Aphid infestations are more intense in Ningxia, while yellow caterpillars have also been observed there. Large spot disease is prevalent in the northeast and northern China, and brown spot disease has increased in recent years, especially in the Huanghuai region. Gray spot disease is widespread in the southwest and has also appeared in the northeast. These forecasts come from the Pest and Disease Forecasting Office at the National Agricultural Technology Extension Service Center. As the growing season progresses, farmers and agricultural officials are advised to remain vigilant and implement timely control measures to mitigate potential losses. With climate conditions continuing to influence pest dynamics, staying informed and proactive is essential for maintaining crop health and productivity.

Lawn Lamps

Lawn lamps are an excellent way to add some life to your backyard or garden. These decorative lights not only add beauty and ambiance to your outdoor space but also provide safety and security by lighting up your walkways, stairs, and driveways. Advancements in technology have led to the creation of solar lawn lights and LED ground lights, which are more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly options than traditional electric lawn lamps. Solar-powered lawn lights require no wiring or electrical outlets and are charged through solar panels during the day, making them cost-effective and hassle-free. LED ground lights, on the other hand, are incredibly durable and can withstand harsh weather conditions, making them perfect for outdoor use. Other popular types of lawn lamps include solar garden lanterns and garden decorative lights, which can be used to create a cozy and inviting atmosphere in your backyard. In summary, lawn lamps are an essential part of garden or outdoor decor that enhances the ambiance, adds safety, and offers functionality to any space.
